This course is organised as eight modules so you can walk steadily from welcome to living commitment. You do not need to finish everything in one week. Self-paced study over eight to twelve weeks is the design; roughly twenty-four to thirty-six hours of focused learning is a fair estimate if you include practice and reflection.
Module map (Course 1):
- Welcome & Why Temne Unity Matters — orientation, dignity norms, learning pact
- Who Are the Temne? — geography, people, language family, identity language
- History Overview (Careful Framing) — migration and trade narratives, colonial encounter, Freetown, independence era to today—educational, not mythic
- Language Foundations — original Soul Journey curriculum: sounds, greetings, introductions, family, market, travel, respect, polite refusal
- Culture — values, family, rice and farming heritage, Islam and tradition, arts and storytelling, diaspora life
- Ancestry & Reconnection — family history, humility, communities abroad and in Sierra Leone, language as belonging
- Unity of Temne People Wherever They Are — associations, mutual aid, intergenerational teaching, network map
- Capstone — review quiz, unity pledge, small community project, continuing path
Three tracks weave through the modules. History teaches careful framing and verification. Language builds practical speech habits without fabricating vocabulary in these offline packs—your instructor will add verified Temne phrases where noted. Culture and unity keep learning connected to living people, not to abstractions.
The capstone asks you to draft a personal Temne unity pledge and/or design a small community project (thirty to ninety days). Learning that returns to community completes the circle. Preview that ending now so every lesson feels like preparation for service, not only for a certificate.
Study tip: keep a simple notebook with three headings—Verify, Practise, Serve. After each lesson, write one note under each heading.
