Temne: Language, Culture, History & Global Unity is the flagship course of Soul Journey of Life’s Tutor LMS catalogue. It welcomes Temne speakers, learners, and especially diaspora who have traced ancestry to Temne people—and anyone seeking cultural reconnection and the unity of Temne people wherever they live.

You will learn who the Temne are: a major ethnic group of Sierra Leone’s Northern Province and Western Area, with historical and cultural links to Guinea; speakers of a Mel language within the Niger-Congo family. History modules offer careful, educational framing of migration and trade narratives (including Futa Djallon / Guinea connections), colonial encounter, and the Freetown context—without invented myths.

Language lessons form an original Soul Journey curriculum: sounds and orthography, greetings, introductions, family, market, travel, community respect (elders and chiefs), and polite refusal. Culture modules honour values, family, rice and farming heritage, Islam and tradition, arts, proverbs, and storytelling traditions—plus diaspora life in places such as the UK and the US.

Ancestry and reconnection modules guide family-history journeys and respectful connection with Temne communities abroad and in Sierra Leone. Unity modules explore associations, mutual aid, and intergenerational teaching. The capstone is a personal Temne unity pledge or community project.

Prerequisites: none. No prior Temne language study required. Curiosity, humility, and a willingness to learn with dignity are enough.
